Privacy Policy

The short version

You can’t open an account through this website, and it doesn’t ask for your name, email, phone number, banking details or any other information that identifies you.

What stays on your device

One small piece of information is saved in your browser’s local storage, only on your device: the changes you make to the sample account (capital-focus-sample-account), such as a frozen card, goal amounts and the example investment mix. The sample account holds sample data only.

This information is never sent to us or to anyone else. You can remove it at any time with “Reset” or by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.

What we don’t do

  • No cookies, analytics, advertising or tracking pixels.
  • No forms, sign-ups or newsletters.
  • No fonts, images or scripts loaded from other companies’ servers.
  • No sale, rental or sharing of personal information.

Technical information

Like any website, the server that delivers these pages receives the technical details every browser sends with a request, such as an IP address, browser type and the page requested. Capital Focus doesn’t use this information to identify you or to build a profile, and doesn’t combine it with anything else.

Children

The site isn’t directed at children and doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes

If the site ever starts collecting information, for example through analytics or a contact form, this policy will be updated before that happens, and the date above will change.

Terms of Use

Last updated October 26, 2026

About this site

Capital Focus is not a bank, credit union or other financial institution. It doesn’t hold deposits or offer accounts, cards, payments, lending, investing or any other financial service.

Nothing here is financial advice

Balances, transactions, goals, projections and investment mixes on this site are sample data and examples. They ignore interest, fees, taxes and market risk, and shouldn’t be relied on to make financial decisions.

The sample account

The sample account runs entirely in your browser with sample data. Nothing you do in it moves money, creates an account or reaches anyone else. It may change or be reset at any time.

Using the site

  • Please don’t attempt to disrupt the site or access parts of it that aren’t meant to be public.
  • Don’t present Capital Focus as a real financial service or use its name and marks to suggest one exists.

Content and marks

The Capital Focus name, logo, interface designs, text and images are original to Capital Focus. Images are illustrative; the people shown are not customers. The Plus Jakarta Sans typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License 1.1.

No warranty

The site is provided as is, without any promise that it will be available, complete or error-free. To the extent the law allows, no liability is accepted for loss arising from its use.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the project changes. The date above shows the latest version.

Cookies

Capital Focus doesn’t set any cookies (not for analytics, advertising or anything else), so there is nothing to accept or decline.

Local storage

The site uses your browser’s local storage, which works like a cookie but is never sent with requests. It holds one item, on your device only: capital-focus-sample-account, the changes you make to the sample account, so they’re still there when you come back. Clear it with “Reset”.

If local storage is blocked, the sample account still works but forgets your changes when you leave.

If this changes

If cookies or similar technologies are ever added, this policy will be updated first and, where consent is needed, you’ll be asked before anything is set.

Accessibility

Last updated October 26, 2026

Our aim

Capital Focus is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, so it works with a keyboard, a screen reader, zoom and your device’s display settings.

What’s in place

  • Every page and dialog can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Text and controls meet AA contrast, including the cards that sit over the hero film.
  • Pages reflow down to 320 px wide and at 200 % zoom without scrolling sideways.
  • Keyboard and screen-reader users can pause the hero film and its floating cards: press Tab after the main navigation and a “Pause background motion” button appears. Both also stop when your device is set to reduce motion.
  • More contrast or less transparency in your settings turns translucent cards solid.
  • Amounts always carry a sign or label, so meaning never depends on colour alone.

How we check

Automated WCAG checks on every page, keyboard testing, and layout checks across 25 screen sizes. Results are kept with the project.

Known gaps

  • The pause button only appears when it receives keyboard focus, so people using only a mouse or touch screen have no visible way to pause the hero film; they can stop it only through their device’s reduce-motion setting. For them, this does not meet WCAG 2.2.2 (Pause, Stop, Hide).
  • A pause lasts while you browse the site but resets when the page is reloaded.
  • A full manual test with VoiceOver and NVDA hasn’t been completed yet.

Security and fraud

Signs of a scam

  • Pressure to act right now, or a threat that your account will be closed.
  • Requests for a one-time passcode, password or PIN. No one legitimate needs these.
  • Links or attachments in unexpected texts and emails, even if they look like your bank.
  • Requests to pay with gift cards, cryptocurrency or a transfer to a “safe account”.

What to do

  • Stop, and contact the organization using details you already know, not the ones in the message.
  • Freeze your card if you think its details were shared.
  • Report fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (opens in a new tab).

On this site

There are no accounts, sign-ins or forms here, so this site never asks for passwords, card numbers or personal details. If a message claiming to be Capital Focus asks for any of these, it isn’t from us.

Lost or stolen card

Freeze it first

In the Capital Focus app, open Card and switch on Freeze card. New payments are declined straight away, and you can unfreeze it the moment the card turns up. You can try it on the sample account.

Then check your recent activity

Look through recent transactions for anything you don’t recognise. Transactions can be searched by merchant, place or note and filtered by month, direction and category.

Online payments

Card controls also let you turn online payments off on their own, while keeping in-store payments on.
